Private Life
Gigi Hadid was romantically involved with Australian singer Cody Simpson on a full-time basis between 2013 and 2015, and had roles in his music videos for "Surfboard" and "Flower." They first broke up in March 2018, had a brief reunion in June and broke up for a second time in November of that year. They got back together for the umpteenth time in January 2020. The British Fashion Council named her the International Model of the Year 2016. Throughout her career, Hadid has made more than 50 international Vogue appearances. Early Life
Jelena Noura Hadid was born April 23, 1995, in Los Angeles,
California, to Palestinian Muslim real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and Dutch
former supermodel Yolanda Hadid (née van den Herik). Also, her younger sister
Bella and younger brother Anwar are models. In addition, she has two older
paternal half-sisters, Marielle and Alana. In May 2025, Hadid and her sister
Bella announced in a statement that they have a younger half sister through
their father named Aydan Nix. They indicated that they established a connection
with Nix during late 2023. Nix was welcomed by her mother, Terri Hatfield Dull,
after a brief relationship with Mohamed that came after his divorce from
Yolanda. Together with her siblings, she was raised on a ranch in Santa
Barbara. Hadid claimed that "Gigi" was a childhood nickname which her
mother also used while she was growing up in the Netherlands. She also began
using it in school to avoid confusion with a girl named "Helena" who
was in her class.
In 2013, Hadid graduated from Malibu High School. She was
the captain of the varsity volleyball team and also an aspiring equestrian.
Following high school, she went off to New York City to study criminal
psychology at The New School. However, she ended up suspending her studies to
concentrate on her modeling career.
Real Estate
In 2015, Gigi bought a two-bedroom condo for $4 million and
located it in the Noho area of New York City. Three years later, she splashed
out $5.8 million for a three-bedroom duplex in that same building. In 2020,
Gigi submitted plans to combine two condos so they become one unit. Sister
Bella acquired a penthouse apartment a few blocks away in November 2019 for
$6.1 million.
